I just ran the new balance real run this morning, and while running I gained a new insight. ( the wonders of running….),
I was thinking of our Christian lives as a running a race, where the distance represents the duration of our entire Christian lives. The start line (marks the day you become the Christian), while the finishing line denotes the end of your human life (and your Christian life on earth).
Note: the analogy is in (brackets)
Let’s say the race is 15km, and your race timing (represents how much u want to do well for God and make your life a living sacrifice)Everyone participates in the race, there are many variations of the outcome, and each one represents the way that we do our Christian walk
1) Some of us start fast (on fire), and get punctured at the middle or the end. Some get dehydrated, ( poor foundation) faint and never make it to the end ( the backsliders who never get back) Some do complete the race, but they know that they could run it better if they had planned properly, and stopped at the first few water stops to hydrate adequately ( pray & read the bible)
2) Others start slow, and more often than not, get discouraged by other faster runners (comparison with other christians) , distracted by nice scenery( earthly distractions). They fail to keep watch on their timing, and while they complete the race, they could definitely get a better timing had they not been so distracted.
3) The last group, starts off well, maintains consistency, stops at water stops for hydration and very importantly, always always looks at the time ( seeks the Spirit for guidance). They complete the race, and they know that they have done it within the best of their ability.
Which runner are u today?
